Wat is puinafval?

Puinafval bestaat uit harde, steenachtige materialen die vrijkomen bij sloop- en bouwwerkzaamheden. Denk hierbij aan bakstenen, betonresten, tegels, keramiek en metselwerk. Omdat puin niet vergaat en goed te recyclen is, vormt het een aparte afvalstroom. Het wordt na inzameling vaak gebroken tot granulaat, dat vervolgens wordt hergebruikt in bijvoorbeeld de wegenbouw. Belangrijk is dat puinafval zo schoon mogelijk wordt aangeboden: zonder hout, gips, plastic of ander vervuilend materiaal. Zo blijft het geschikt voor hergebruik en draag je bij aan een duurzame verwerking van jouw sloopafval.

Hoe ontstaat puinafval?
